1231. First deluxe bus Service between Poonch And Srinagar
- The trial run of the first-ever J&K Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) deluxe bus service from Poonch to Srinagar via Mughal Road.
- The bus service from Poonch to the Kashmir Valley was in high demand from the locals, according to the officials, and it has now been started to enable the public to use the Mughal Road at reasonable prices.
- The fare from Poonch to Srinagar has been fixed at Rs 398. The timing of the bus shall be 8am from Poonch to Srinagar. The fleet of vehicles shall be increased as per demand, and increase in the passenger footfall.
- Mughal Road is an alternate route connecting the Jammu division with the Kashmir division, besides Jammu – Srinagar National Highway.

1232. Bus to Teetwal near LoC to boost tourism
- For the first time J&K’s Road Transport Corporation has started a tourist bus to the border area of Teetwal close to the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district to boost border and religious tourism.
- The temple located in Teetwal on the banks of the Kishanganga River was built by Save Sharda Committee to revive the centuries-old pilgrimage to Shardapeeth temple in the Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
- J&K LG on April 14, 2023, in New Delhi and demanded a bus service from Srinagar to Teetwal and Kupwara to Teetwal to help tourists with the public modes of transport to Teetwal in the wake of the inauguration of Sharda Temple.
- The bus service will shuttle from Kupwara to Chitterkote at a fare of Rs. 140. The pilgrims have to take a taxi and bear heavy charges for visiting Sharda Temple and we welcome the decision of the LG Government for starting the bus service that will help the locals as well as tourists

1233. India's first indigenous water-soluble fertiliser technology to cut dependence on Chinese import
- On August 31, 2025, It was reported that, India has successfully developed its first indigenous water-soluble fertiliser technology after seven years of research, marking a potential breakthrough that could transform the country from an import-dependent nation to an export-dominating force in specialty fertilisers.
- The technology, backed by the Ministry of Mines and developed using Indian raw materials and Indian-designed plants, represents a true "Make in India" proposition that could significantly reduce the country's heavy dependence on Chinese specialty fertiliser imports.
- Barring 5 per cent of NPK formulations produced domestically, India is 95 per cent dependent on Chinese supplies for specialty fertilisers. This dependency has grown steadily since 2005, when European suppliers began sourcing from China to serve Indian markets,

1234. PM flags off Jammu & Kashmir’s first electric train
- Indian PM flagged off the electric train from Srinagar to Sangaldan in the down direction and the other from Sangaldan to Srinagar in the up direction.
- It is the first electric train in Kashmir. The launch of this train will boost social and economic development in the valley.
- PM also flagged off the DEMU train between Sangaldan and the Baramulla station. This will provide a better transportation option for local farmers, traders, artisans, and students. Along with this, it will also promote tourism in the area, which will lead to more employment.

1235. Union Cabinet clears first railway links for four Jharkhand Districts
- India’s railway network is an integral part of the country’s transport system. With over 8,000 stations across the country, it offers a wide range of connectivity for the travellers.
- Now, the network is expanding even more as four districts in Jharkhand—Gumla, Khunti, Simdega, and Chatra—are all set to get railway connectivity for the first time since India’s independence. This long-awaited move marks a significant milestone.
- Gumla, Khunti, and Simdega will be connected to the existing Ranchi-Lohardaga rail line, a critical route in Jharkhand. Chatra, on the other hand, will be linked to the Ranchi-Hazaribagh rail route.
- The connectivity plan for these new railway links in Jharkhand includes 55 km rail line from Lohardaga to Gumla, a 43 km rail line from Gumla to Simdega, a 20 km rail line from Hatia to Khunti, and a 42 km rail line from Hazaribagh to Chatra.
1236. First bus service in 50 years reached remote villages of Bijapur
- The worst insurgency-hit Bijapur district is witnessing a major transformational change amid efforts to eliminate Naxalism as the Chhattisgarh government has introduced a bus service covering seven panchayats, including the state's last village Pamed.
- The development comes as a significant step towards the rapid development of Bijapur, a region which is marred with Naxal activities and often hit headlines for reasons like IED blasts, encounters and ambushes.
- As a result of the ongoing endeavour to connect Bijapur with mainstream development, the officials said, the government has started a bus service covering seven panchayats, including Pamed, which has witnessed numerous naxal incidents in the past.
- Notably, Pamed was inaccessible from the Bijapur till now, and one had to travel via Telangana to reach the village, the officials added, adding that after nearly 50 years, the passenger bus service has been started in the area.
1237. First bus reached Gadchiroli village since Independence
- A passenger bus rolled into a remote Naxal-affected village in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district for the first time since Independence.
- Katejhari, a tribal village in Gadchiroli district, will now have public transport as the state-run bus recently reached the village. The historic initiative aims to improve access to healthcare, education, economic opportunities, and overall development in the area.
- The Prime Minister's efforts to root out Naxalism from this region and bring it into the mainstream. Many shared videos of the bus making its entry into the village with local residents describing it as “more than just a convenience".
1238. Villages In Chhattisgarh gets bus service for the first
- A Naxal fort for decades, the dense forests and rugged terrains of Abujhmad, are finally seeing the sun rise on the dark patches of underdevelopment and isolation.
- As the landscape shifts, literally and figuratively, people are taking the route to development, now through a bus service that was launched between Narayanpur and Kutul, for the first time since Independence.
- The initiative is part of a joint effort by the Narayanpur district administration and the police department, who had been trying to bring about change in the rural landscape which was in the grip of Naxals for a long part of history.
- The impact is already visible though not percolated deep into the life of people. Access to healthcare, education, and markets has become easier for dozens of villages along the new route but how far and how well, remain to be seen in the coming days.
1239. First passenger train runs on new Broad-Gauge line connecting Silchar and Lumding
- The first passenger train on the newly laid broad-gauge line, inaugurated on Saturday, between Silchar in southern Assam and Lumding in central Assam ended decades of isolation of southern Assam fromthe railways' broad-gauge network.
- The first passenger train chugged out of Silchar Railway station on Saturday morning, ending decades of isolation of southern Assam from the broad-gauge network. The government has made north-eastern states a priority as far as rail and road connectivity is concerned.
- The passenger train will cover a distance of 210 km in eight hours to reach Guwahati through Lumding, reducing the travelling time by four hours. Earlier, on a meter–gauge line laid during the British era, it took 12 hours to cover the same distance.

1240. India’s first commercial flight with Indigenous Dornier Do-228 takes off in Northeast
- The Civil Aviation Ministry has approved the “Providing air connectivity and Aviation infrastructure in North Eastern Region” scheme.
- Under this scheme, the first flight of Made in India HAL Dornier Do-228 will be inaugurated from Dibrugarh in Assam to Pasighat in the state of Arunachal Pradesh on 12 April 2022.
- The airline- Alliance Air will be the country’s first commercial airline to fly Indian-made aircraft for civil operations. Apart from this, the first Flying Training Organization (FTO) for the North Eastern Region will also be inaugurated at Lilabari in the state of Assam.
- The UDAN scheme has helped in enhancing inter and intra connectivity for the Northeast region. Connectivity in the Northeast part of the country is very important and the Ministry has identified the North Eastern Region as a priority area under UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik)- the Regional Connectivity Scheme of the Modi government.
